River Clyde Arts presents "One for All," a festival of solo performances by women, from November 7-10, 2024, at the Loft of the Mill in New Glasgow. Each evening features a compelling new play created and performed by collaborators and friends of River Clyde Arts: Jane Wells' "How to Live with Dread," Tannis Kowalchuk's "Decompositions," Dale Colleen Hamilton's "She Won't Come in from the Fields," and Tanya Davis' "Seeker."

Each evening’s show will be preceded by a prix fixe meal in the Mill dining room. Chef Emily Wells’ festival menu celebrates PEI’s cultural diversity and the influence of remarkable women cooks, from Julia Child and Madhur Jaffrey to mothers and grandmothers of Islanders, old and new. Tickets for the dinner are sold separately - call The Mill at 902-964-3313 to reserve your table.

THE SHOWS:

Thursday Nov 7 and Friday Nov 8, 7:30pm:

How to Live with Dread by Jane Wells

Following the death of her brother Ker (co-founder with Megan Stewart of the River Clyde Pageant), Jane Wells grapples with how to find the way forward in life and in her work without him — so close was their connection as siblings and artistic collaborators. This new performance shines a gentle light on grief and one’s identity within, and after, loss.

Saturday Nov 9, 7:30pm:

Decompositions by Tannis Kowalchuk

Created by theatre artist and organic farmer Tannis Kowalchuk, Decompositions is a dynamic duet with a pile of compost. This lively work uses fiercely personal stories, songs and the process of decomposing as an exploration of art, farming, illness, mortality—and the beautiful mess of loving it all.

Sunday Nov 10, 2pm:

She Won’t Come in from the Fields by Dale Colleen Hamilton

A feisty farm woman is fed up with the conventional way her son is farming and stages a one-woman protest, refusing to come in from the fields until he agrees to try farming regeneratively.

She Won’t Come in from the Fields will be followed by a community conversation on regenerative farming led by Dale Hamilton and Tannis Kowalchuk.

Sunday Nov 10, 7:30pm:

Seeker by Tanya Davis

PEI Poet Laureate Tanya Davis’ latest work-in-progress is a candid and comedic commentary on the many ways we seek, the realities we find, and the truth we miss along the way.
