The River Clyde Pageant: Gathering Tides will explore themes of arrival and encounter as we did in 2021, telling stories of the many ways we meet each other, the land, and the beings with whom we share this world. The performance route is circular, and the audience travels in two groups, moving in opposite directions through New Glasgow’s Gardens of Hope, witnessing scenes and spectacles on land and water.

There are eight performances of the River Clyde Pageant. Tickets must be reserved online, no tickets are sold at the door. The Pageant is admission by donation. You can donate when booking online, or onsite before and after the performances (cash, card or cheques accepted).

Performances begin promptly at 7pm. Plan to arrive in New Glasgow by 6:30pm to ensure time for parking and arrival on site. The show runs approximately 80 minutes.

Saturday and Sunday performances on both weekends conclude with a shared, long-table meal in a field overlooking the River Clyde, prepared by Chef Emily Wells and staff from The Mill Restaurant. We encourage audience members to bring their own plates and cutlery. There is a bar with cider and beer for purchase. There is no meal following Thursday and Friday performances.

Audience members are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or folding chairs to sit on. Benches and chairs will be available at each scene for those who need them.

The performance requires a good deal of walking on hilly, uneven ground that ranges from paved and gravel pathways and grass. We recommend bringing sunglasses and wearing appropriate clothing for evening outdoor weather. With the exception of service animals, dogs are not allowed.

Due to the processional nature of the performance, we recognize that the Pageant is challenging for those using mobility devices. We are working to improve accessibility for the event and will have two golf carts available each night, for up to six patrons with limited mobility. Please email to reserve a cart and for further accessibility information.

There are two parking areas for The Pageant:

  • The Gardens of Hope Parking Lot

  • Second Parking Area to be confirmed

Attendants will guide you to parking spots and direct you to the Box Office & Entrance at the Butterfly House in The Gardens of Hope, 2827 New Glasgow Road. We encourage audience members to carpool if possible!

If it rains, The River Clyde Pageant cannot take place. We will email attendees by 5:30pm if we have to cancel the show. If you don’t hear from us, the show is going ahead. Unfortunately, tickets cannot be used for another performance.
